Abstract

Orang dengan schizophrenia (ODS) dicirikan dengan lemahnya pengendalian diri atas tingkah lakunya yang telah dikuasai oleh gejala positif dan negatifnya. Akibatnya, ODS mengalami kesulitan untuk mempertahankan kedudukannya di masyarakat. ODS kehilangan pekerjaan, diisolasi, renggangnya relasi sosial, dan tergantung pada orang lain. Pokok bahasan penelitian ini terletak pada peningkatan kemampuan pengendalian diri untuk mengembalikan pemulihan ODS seperti sebelum mengalami schizophrenia melalui pemanfaatan kelompok dukungan. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperoleh hasil yang mampu mendeskripsikan tentang elemen pokok pengendalian diri yang diperoleh ODS agar dapat berfungsi kembali di masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik purposive samping untuk memilih lima orang ODS sebagai informan penelitian ini. Teknik pengumpulan data mempergunakan wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview), observasi, dan studi dokumentasi.  Penelitian ini berlokasi di Komunitas Peduli Schizophrenia Indonesia (KPSI) sebagai salah satu kelompok dukungan di Jakarta. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa kunci pengendalian diri ODS terbagi menjadi dua besaran yaitu pengendalian diri atas pikiran dan pengendalian diri atas emosi. Pengendalian diri atas pikiran meliputi mengenali kelemahan, kepekaan terhadap lingkungan, berpikir logis terhadap halusinasi dan delusi, beraktivitas, dan memperbaiki cara pandang.  Pengendalian emosi meliputi kemampuan mendeteksi tekanan pemicu depresi, berpikir positif atas stigma, mengendalikan kecemasan, mengakui dan menerima identitas diri. Kemampuan pengendalian diri, menjadi syarat ODS kembali pulih agar siap memasuki lingkungan sosialnya. Kata Kunci: Kelompok dukungan, Pengendalian Diri, Orang dengan Schizophrenia abstractPeople with Schizophrenia have been characterized by lack of self-control over their behaviour due to their overwhelmed by both positive and negative symptoms. Consequently, people with schizophrenia have difficulty on maintaining their existence within their community. There are some cases that people with schizophrenia are lose their jobs, being isolated, tenuous social relationship and depend on others. The subject of this study has concentrated in the improvement of self-control ability to restore the recovery of people with schizophrenia, as before have experienced schizophrenia through the use of support groups. This research is addressed to describe the basic elements of self-control that help people with schizophrenia to reintegrate with their society. This research uses qualitative approach by using purposive sampling technique to choose five people with schizophrenia as informants. Data collection techniques using in-depth interview, observation and documentation studies. This research has been conducted in the Komunitas Peduli Schizophrenia Indonesia (KPSI) as one of support groups in Jakarta. The results of the study shows that the key element of self-control for people with schizophrenia consist of self-control over the mind and self-control over emotion. Self-control over the mind includes recognizing self-weakness, self-sensitivity, logical thinking facing hallucination and delucions, engaging and improving the worldview. Emotion control includes the ability to detect the pressure of the depression triggers, positive thinking about stigma, controlling anxiety, recognizing  self identity. Self-control is a requirement for people with schizophrenia to recover and reintegrate with their communities   Keywords: Support Group, Self-Control, People with Schizophrenia
